What are Downloadable Audiobooks?

Downloadable Audiobooks from OverDrive are digital versions of audiobooks made available through the Internet.

The following types of materials can be checked out and downloaded from this website:

• WMA Audiobooks in the OverDrive Media Console™ format
• MP3 Audiobooks in the OverDrive Media Console™ format

Audio books in the WMA format have been available for some time through OverDrive and RCPL has many titles to choose from.  In December, 2008, the new MP3 format became available.  The Library will continue to add more titles in this format.  We are pleased to now offer the MP3 format, which means that library card holders who have iPods, Zunes, and other MP3 players can now download audiobooks for their devices.

To access digital materials at Rapid City Public Library, you will need:

• A valid library card
• Access to the Internet
• Free software for the computer and/or device on which you wish to download the audiobooks – available from the OverDrive website.
